Law for today
The List is not constrained by traditional elements of legal practice that come with bricks-and-mortar chambers. We use technology to improve the legal services we provide at every stage of the process. Our fees can be paid electronically and you can even tune into our virtual CPD content.
Our process is simple: find a barrister, schedule an e-consult (speak to us via phone or video chat) and upload your digital brief, fast and securely.

Why The List?
The List is a national list of barristers that began at the end of 2023 and is in its start-up phase. It was founded by four women with the aim to provide an online national presence for barristers with, or developing a national practice.
The List provides a ready resource for solicitors and in-house counsel to easily locate counsel in their areas of law and geographical location and to assist with equitable briefing.
The List aims to address the equity and diversity issues at the Bar by providing support to women and others under-represented at the Bars around Australia.
The List offers an alternative to barristers paying for multiple chambers around the country and can operate as a supplementary list to members’ primary chambers. Each member of The List can retain membership of their existing chambers or list.
For work in the barrister’s home states, please direct enquires in the first instance to their primary chambers.

As a commercial litigator I have been working with barristers for over 30 years. Changes to legal practice require changes in the way I deliver my services to clients and in what I expect from the Bar. I want, and my clients expect, agile, forward thinking, accessible and technologically capable barristers capable of accepting and working with electronic briefing. A national list of barristers who can service my clients and their interests is welcome progress.
The List Australia complements modern methods of legal practice, and the e-briefing capabilities it offers will facilitate proper document management and corresponds with how the Courts now require hearing materials to be prepared. Efficient e-briefing reduces the cost of litigation, saves paper and printing costs, reduces costs associated with handling volumes of paper and saves on storage.
The List Australia is a fresh, innovative solution to modern practice for the next generation of legal leaders.
